What’s Galla Chinensis Extract Tannins?

Chinese gallnuts (Chinese gall or nutgalls), is a plant excretion produced by the activities of a type of larvae of gall insects, got its name from the shape that hardens to become the “nut.”, these galls are called Wubeizi in traditional Chinese medicine. Gallnuts are native to China and are also produced in small amounts in other Southeast Asia countries. Chinese sumac (Rhus species) is a major commercial source of gallnuts, the plant secretes the liquid gall, which ingredients mainly tannins, a mixture of gallic acyl glucose with a content of about 60-70%, gallic acid (2-4%), starch, fat, resin, and waxy.

Gallnuts tannins were a type of hydrolysable tannin, it was found good anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and disease-prevention properties.
