The dried fruits of the plant are used in herbal medicine for detoxification and heat clearing. The herb is also used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat cancer. Forsythia suspensa extract is a common health supplement made from the fruit of the plant. It contains forsythin and forsythiaside, both of which have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
